Dawson, M.N. 2000. Variegated mesocosms as alternatives to shore-based planktonkreisels: notes on the husbandry of jellyfish from marine lakes. J. Plankton Res. 22: 1673-1682.

Abstract

Variegated mesocosms, which provide spatial cues lacking in planktonkreisels, facilitated morphological and behavioral studies of plankton from marine lakes. I describe a mesocosm and its application to marine lake studies, then suggest several modifications to the present design. Variegated mesocosms are a neglected resource in plankton research.
